Responsibilities

• Operate machines within the cell following safety procedures.
• Perform minor adjustments or notify lead/setup for major changes.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to cell efficiency.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and basic repairs as needed.
• Inspect work with required gauges and ensure quality of own output.
• Utilize measuring tools to maintain tight tolerances.
• Follow schedules, procedures and cross-train within the team.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Operate various machines within the cell
• Makes minor adjustment as necessary or notify Lead person or Setup person if a more significant adjustment is required
• Maintains a clean machine and organized work area.
• Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed
• Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs.
• Performs variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, transferring of parts
• Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
• Follows schedules and procedures
• Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training
• Sees that all safety guards are in place and in good condition
• Assists other operators if necessary
• Inspects work in progress using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or work instructions. Responsible for quality of own work
• Forklift (i.e. powered industrial truck) operation.
• All other duties as assigned

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

• Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and/or mechanical drawings and in precision measurement or become proficient through training.
• Computer literacy
• Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
• Capable of using hand tools (i.e. screwdriver, wrenches etc.)
• Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.
