Job summary

Mativ Holdings, Inc. is hiring a Machine Operator I to support our extrusion production line, read and act on production paperwork, and set up equipment per specifications.

You will enter production data into our ERP system, inspect samples, perform tooling changes, and help improve methods and efficiency while following safety guidelines. 12-hour shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors and customers.
• Ability to follow complex, multi-step instructions.
• Able to work with multiple variables and non-standard situations.
• Willingness to work 12 hour shifts and overtime as needed.
• Proficient with computer systems and manufacturing software.
• Able to read measurements in fractions and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret production paperwork (Sales Orders, Production Notes, Customer Specifications, Set-Up Sheets).
• Set up machines for production and follow guidelines/specifications.
• Perform changeovers on extrusion lines per customer specs.
• Audit material consumption and loading; enter data into ERP.
• Inspect and prepare customer samples; conduct tooling changes or adjustments.
• Assist others to meet KPIs and participate in shift/safety meetings.
• Suggest improvements to methods, equipment, and efficiency.

Machine Operator I

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Machine Operator I provides necessary support to the production teams, assists machine operators with assigned tasks, maintains materials and supplies, tracks inventories, and packages finished products. The position reports to the leader on any work status updates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads and interprets production paperwork (e.g. Sales Orders, Production Notes Customer Specifications, and Set-Up Sheets)
• Sets up assigned machine for production using previously determined guidelines and specifications
• Sets up, maintains and performs changeovers on extrusion line by following customer specifications.
• Audits material consumption and loading
• Enters all production data into the Enterprise Readiness Planning (ERP) system
• Inspects and prepares customer samples as required following product specifications
• Conducts tooling changes or machine adjustments
• Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
• Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment used to increase the efficiency of plant, department, or work crew
• Attends shift and safety meetings when required
• Assists all operators and coworkers to meet organizational key performance indicators
• Acquires skills to operate lines in one production segment
• Performs duties of Utility and Machine Operator
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education & Skillsets

• Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, managers and customers
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex multiple-step instructions
• Ability to deal with problems and non-standardized situations with multiple variables
• Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong time management skills
• Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and correspondence
• Ability to travel between facilities
• Ability to work overtime if required to meet business demands
• Ability to use a computer; including but not limited to manufacturing software
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations, aided, including fractions and decimals
• Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements in fractions and decimals

Preferred:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Associate degree from a technical school
• 1-3 years' experience with dies and extruders

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Be able to push or pull heavy objects with mechanical assistance
• Be able to work 12 hour shifts
• Perform repetitive tasks
• Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk
• Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and balance; sometimes in awkward or tight spaces
• Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
• Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate Power Industrial Trucks

The hourly rate for this position is $23.25 per hour
