Job summary

PADNOS, a full-service recycling company, is seeking a Machine Operator based at our Grandville, MI location. You will support metals operations and may travel to nearby PADNOS sites as needed.

You will safely operate hi-lo, forklift, loader, and other equipment to load, unload, grade, inspect materials. The role requires mechanical aptitude, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Hi-lo experience required.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Attention to detail.
• Six months’ operating small equipment experience preferred (loader, forklift, scissor lift).
• Equipment operation and preventive maintenance knowledge (conveyors, pulleys, etc).

Responsibilities

• Distinguish between numerous grades and types of materials using basic identification tests.
• Perform required bore, during and after-operation user maintenance.
• Monitor equipment, troubleshoot and/or notify management of any malfunctions that occur.
• Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition.
• Prepare various documents and reports.
• Troubleshoot and mechanical diagnosis to identify repair needs such as motors, gearboxes, augers, pulleys, conveyors, and more.
• Prepare and complete required paperwork.

Position Summary

Our Machine Operator is primarily based at our Grandville, MI location and focuses on metals operations. While Grandville will be the home base, this role will occasionally float to other PADNOS locations in the greater Grand Rapids area as needed. As a Machine Operator, you’re also responsible for safely operating equipment such as hi-lo, loader, forklift, sweeper and/or small loader to assist in loading, unloading, grading, inspecting, buying and transportation of materials. Mechanical experience is a plus as the machines do break down and it is helpful to do what we can without calling for maintenance.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, weekends as needed
• 1st Shift - 6:00am - 4:30pm
