Optical Cable Corporation in Roanoke, Virginia, is looking for an Extrusion Operator to set up and monitor the 1" extrusion equipment for fiber optic cable manufacturing. The role involves ensuring product quality, completing documentation, and assisting in problem-solving during production.
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in a team with minimal supervision. The position runs from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime availability.
Sets up, runs, and monitors the 1\" extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable by performing the following job responsibilities.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to run a machine in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly. Ability to read and follow basic instructions. Ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.
While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. This job requires a sighted individual (i.e., vision corrected to 20/20) for significant reading and computer usage. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with normal hearing (i.e., hearing corrected to normal ranges). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
