Job description

Machine Operator Evening Shift - North York

We are currently seeking a qualified machine operator for our North York location at 774 Supertest Rd. This position is for the evening shift, Monday to Thursday, from 3:00 pm to 2:00 am (10-hour shift), for approximately 3 to 6 months.

  • Set up the machine control panel at the start of each shift.
  • Check parts for tolerances using a caliper, continuously throughout the shift.
  • Record tolerances every two hours on the Quality Assurance Report.
  • If tolerances are out of specification, stop the machine and make necessary adjustments (changing tools or moving units).
  • Lift material onto the machine, one bar at a time when required, with bar lengths of 12' to 16'.
  • Empty the chip bin when full.
  • Move the drum of parts to the shipping area using a drum dolly when full or the job is complete. Refer to the print for quantity.
  • Prepare the shipping label with Catalog #, Part #, Shop Order #, and Revision # from the print, and place it inside the drum before moving it to shipping.
  • Transport material from shipping to the machine using a buggy.
  • Clean chips from the machine compartment by stepping onto the platform and small stool, removing safety covers.
  • Maintain cleanliness around the machine area.
  • Lifting requirements include:
    • Waist to shoulder - continuously during production.
    • Checking parts with calipers.
    • Above shoulder - overhead reaching every 5 minutes to lift 2 to 3 bars above shoulder.
