JOB DETAILS

Base Pay: $19.00 per hour

Shift Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, hours may vary depending on operations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.

  • Understand and follow safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
  • Set up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
  • Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, emphasizing safety and quality.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required.
  • Mark part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts; attach identification tags as needed for easy location.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select correct raw materials or semi-finished parts.
  • Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area.
  • Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
  • Utilize scanning equipment.
  • Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems.
  • Read a tape measure, follow posted schedules, and document measurements accurately.
  • Be a team player with a focus on safety.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
  • Willing and able to work overtime.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least one year of related work experience in manufacturing or a comparable environment.
  • At least one year of operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment, and nail guns.
  • Ability to use measuring gauges and read a tape measure.
  • Forklift and crane experience are a plus but must be trainable.
  • Flexible with working overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, above shoulder height and below waist.

This position may require overtime. Shift durations vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours depending on work orders and seasonal demands.
