Job summary

Waupaca Foundry, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to program, set up and operate both manual and CNC machines. You will read engineering prints, apply GD&T, and adjust tooling to deliver quality castings.

The role requires 3–10 years CNC machining experience, physical ability to lift 50 lbs, and adherence to 6S lean standards. Benefits include comprehensive programs and an employer-funded retirement plan.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–10 years CNC machining experience preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering prints and GD&T.
  • Conversational programming and knowledge of G&M code.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and maintain safety standards.
  • 6S Lean environment experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining process by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting GD&T.
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock and expediting orders.
  • Programs mills and lathes, including zero and reference points; setting tool offsets and feeds.
  • Use of overhead hoists and forklift for material movement.
  • Provide suggested preventative measures to ensure machine capability.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements and new technologies.
  • Train personnel as required.

Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating both manual and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools.
Maintains quality and safety standards, keeps work history records, maintains equipment and supplies, complies with all 6S standards, supports one weekend a month and available to support call-ins.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans machining process by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Programs mills and lathes, including zero and reference points; setting tool offsets, tool compensation, and; calculating speed and feeds, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Use of overhead hoists and fork truck for material movement.
  • Provide suggested preventative measures, to ensure inherent and robust machine capability.
  • Responsible for making recommendations in regard to process improvements as well as new technology.
  • Train personnel as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent.
  • Preferred 3-10 years of related experience and/or training in CNC Machining.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Understanding of work holding, collets, and tooling.
  • Ability to read engineering prints and understanding of GD&T.
  • Machining of various materials such as steel, stainless, tool steel and plastic.
  • Conversational programming and understanding of G & M code.
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Employ critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • 6S Lean initiative work environment.
