What’s new with Aptar

Our fast-growing, technologically-driven manufacturing company is seeking Machine Operators to work 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule rotation. The machine operator manages material flow on the equipment, monitors operation, makes operating adjustments (as required) and verifies product quality and equipment operating conditions to assure conformance to specifications. The operator is responsible for area housekeeping and following proper safety procedures plus recommending changes to enhance equipment performance and improve safety. This position must participate and adhere to all applicable plant certifications including but not limited to, ISO 9001:2000, SQF and BRC.

This position operates on a 12 hour shift (6:45pm - 7:00am) on a 2-2-3 rotation, or 12 hour shift (6:45am-7:00pm) on a 2-2-3 schedule.

This is how your journey begins:

  • Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies / procedures.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before start of shift in order to communicate with previous shift.
  • Operating and maintaining all types of heavy equipment.
  • Arranging and setting up the material handling equipment and machineries.
  • Monitoring the machine operations to see that the finished products and components are aptly matching with the quality and quantity constraints of the company.
  • Examining and discarding defective goods and packaging components.
  • Replenishing, stocking, and sorting the packaging supplies.
  • Cleaning the machineries after completing the production activities.
  • Maintaining a report of the total measure of goods manufactured per day.
  • Read activity board for scheduled color changes, conversions and set-ups.
  • Create, label and number boxes. Create move tickets.
  • Read shop order for product requirements and verify box label matches product.
  • Read and interpret visual inspection criteria, mold maps, and mold/product supplemental information.
  • Bag and tag retain product shots.
  • Visually inspect product according to inspection plans including color matching.
  • Answer bells, check for stuck parts, and use Process Monitor on press.
  • When necessary, operate emergency stops on closing machines, grinders, auxiliary equipment and understand lock out/tag out procedure.
  • Ability to run machines adequately for the relief of Operator/Inspectors for breaks, and/or rest.
  • Ability to adequately perform inspections for the substitution of Inspectors when lack of.
  • Perform other related duties assigned.

  • Able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds and stand for a 12-hour work shift.
  • Committed to quality, safety and communication.
  • Team-oriented and self-directed.
  • Background check required.
  • Computer data entry and editing skills including the ability to learn and use applicable departmental software packages.
  • Ability to distinguish color and pass the EnChroma test for the color blind.

Desired Qualifications

  • Fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, and standards.
  • Knowledge of SPC.
  • Knowledge of packaging applications (closures, bottles, & tubes).
  • Able to plan, control and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling and measurement systems.
  • Knowledge of the Food and Beverage industry.
