Job description

Principle Accountabilities:

1. Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity, decreasing downtime and waste.
2. Assume active role in overall plant facilities-related work.
3. Assist all jobs on the plant floor.
4. Follow all company safety rules and lockout tag-out procedures.
5. Maintain shop and equipment per 5S standards.
6. Lift up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours.
7. Set-up and operate machine to produce product according to customer specifications.
8. Troubleshoot, perform minor repair, and preventative maintenance procedures on machine.
9. Train Helper, as required.
10. Perform quality checks as required and take appropriate action when needed.
11. Perform other job-related duties as assigned or delegated.
12. Be comfortable with computers and touch screens.
13. Cross-train on other machines and jobs.
14. Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
15. Input maintenance work orders into BPMS software. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
16. Switch duties with Assistant Operator or Helper if necessary.
17. Comply with the facility’s food packaging safety program processes and procedures.
18. Complete annual food packaging safety training.
19. Report any discovered food packaging safety risks/concerns to the food packaging safety management representative or direct supervisor.
20. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Safety, GMP, FSSC, ISO, and maintaining good housekeeping.
21. Adhere to production schedule and make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Report any unusual scheduling issues to supervisor.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
3. Strong mechanical aptitude and possess problem-solving skills.
4. Able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
5. Must be able to sit, stoop, and bend.
6. Ability to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.
7. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
8. Ability to work in manufacturing environment, with varying temperatures based on season, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. 6 month Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
2. Work with a sense of urgency to reduce downtime of machines.
3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
