Thompson First Group is seeking a Machine Operator Trainee for a premier manufacturing client in the Sandston, VA area. No previous machine operating experience is required—we're looking for dependable individuals with a strong work ethic who are eager to learn.

This is a contract-to-hire position offering hands-on training, opportunities for advancement, and the chance to become a skilled Machine Operator in a modern manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Manufacturing/industrial experience preferred but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Positive attitude and ability to work in a team.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Reliable transportation.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn to safely operate manufacturing equipment through on-the-job training.
• Assist with machine setup, adjustments, and product changeovers.
• Monitor equipment during production runs and report mechanical or quality concerns.
• Perform quality inspections to ensure products meet company specifications.
• Load raw materials and assist with maintaining continuous production.
• Package and prepare finished products for shipment.
• Complete production paperwork and required documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and GMPs.
• Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to maximize efficiency.
• Participate in ongoing training and development to become a fully qualified Machine Operator.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
