Job summary

Second Nature Brands LLC in Madison Heights, MI, is hiring a Packaging Machine Operator to join the supply chain team during our growth. Based at Kar’s Nuts facility, you will monitor and run packaging lines, verify code dates and weights, and help with setup and changeovers to keep lines running smoothly.

This full-time role offers 3:00pm–11:00pm shifts, Monday through Friday with overtime as needed; starting wage is $17.50 per hour plus $1.00 shift premium.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a HS diploma or GED.
• English proficient and able to read and follow instructions.
• Minimum 1 year of machine operator experience in a high-speed manufacturing setting.
• Positive attitude, self-direction, and teamwork to meet targets.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain quality.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently monitor and run various packaging machines.
• Ensure accurate code dates, weights, and proper packaging.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues.
• Maintain clean work area and follow GMP, QFS and OSHA safety policies.
• Assist with setup and changeovers and work with team to hit targets.

Job description

We are on a mission to grow Second Nature Brands to $1+B in the next 2 years through a combination of organic growth (increased distribution, e-commerce, and innovation) and through M&A. We have an opening for a Packaging Machine Operator position, who will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth. This position will be based out of our Kar’s Nuts Products facility located at 1200 East 14 Mile in Madison Heights, Michigan. A Packaging Machine Operator is a vital member of our production team, assisting in the process of multiple kinds of our famous Sanders products to fulfill our vision of Making things better by nourishing people and nature. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00pm -11:00pm, with weekday or weekend overtime as needed. The starting rate $17.50 per hour plus $1.00 shift premium.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include

• Efficiently monitor and run various packaging machines
• Ensure accurate code dates, weights, and that products are put into appropriate packaging
• Perform assigned preventative maintenance
• Troubleshoot & correct packaging machine problems
• Clean packaging machines and maintain a clean work environment.
• Assist with setting up and changing over of packaging machines
• Work with team lead and supervisor to hit performance targets
• Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Q&FS (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety policies
• Maintain clean and safe work area
• Preform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

• Standing for 8-10 hours;
• Walking up and down stairs;
• Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently;
• Working in slightly elevated temperatures;
• Wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by company.

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be high and employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment. This is an indoor food manufacturing setting.
