Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking a manufacturing operator for a 12-hour rotating shift in the United States. You will ensure cheese quality and safety, set up machinery, and maintain accurate records while working with QA and maintenance teams.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, mechanical aptitude, and basic math skills. Experience in food production and knowledge of harps and cutters are a plus. Overtime and teamwork are essential to success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School degree or equivalent required; advanced technical training a plus.
  • Recent manufacturing experience as an operator demonstrating mechanical aptitude.
  • Mechanical/Electrical skills preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with team members and all necessary departments.
  • Able to understand production schedules.
  • Able to understand and use Product Specifications.
  • Experience in food production environment preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of harps and cutters required.
  • Able to use hand and power tools.
  • Good decision making and problem solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Able to read, write legibly, understand and communicate the English language.
  • Able to perform and understand basic math; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
  • Computer literate in MS Office; good computer skills needed.

Responsibilities

  • Have a working knowledge of safety methods and procedures.
  • Assure the type and quality of cheese being used matches customer specifications, food safety & quality standards, and efficiency standards through product inspections.
  • Assure the machine is set up correctly for the run prior to running cheese.
  • Neatly, accurately and legibly maintain all records and documentation.
  • Operate metal detectors as needed, including completing required paperwork.
  • Perform minor maintenance and/or Preventative Maintenance (PM) to equipment.
  • Promotes and maintains accurate communications between Supervisors, Line Leads, Shipping, and Maintenance on both shifts and Sanitation.
  • Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and documentation as required by the QA department.
  • Keep work area neat, clean and organized at all times.
  • Minimizes waste of supplies and cheese.
  • Minimizes downtime.
  • Team oriented.
  • Aware of the value of all necessary tools and equipment and maintains them for optimal use.
  • Positive attitude toward work and co-workers.
  • Able to work overtime.
  • Able to rotate into all necessary positions.
  • Adheres to all policies listed in the Employee Handbook
  • Adheres to all policies listed in the Employee Safety Handbook and maintains a good personal safety record
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), food safety including testing the metal detectors (CCP) and Saputo Management Policy Statement
  • Other duties as assigned by a Supervisor or Line Lead.

Pay Range: $23.77 - $24.77

Major Responsibilities
  • 1. Have a working knowledge of Safety Methods and Procedures. (i.e. Proper Lifting Techniques, Proper Knife Handling Techniques, MSDS, etc..)

12-Hour Rotating Shift Schedule

Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Typically scheduled Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday.
