Job description

Full Time

Hourly

Salary Range: $20.00 To $30.00 Hourly

Job Purpose:

To setup and run the Sodick Wire EDMs all the while maintaining part quality and production efficiencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Setup, operate and debug Sodick Wire EDMs.
  • Make machine tool offsets as needed to maintain part quality.
  • Make minor program changes to M & G code as needed.
  • Identify signs of tool wear and then make the appropriate process or tool change(s).
  • Read process sheets and mechanical drawings with the understanding of GD&T.
  • Work on multiple machines and perform multiple tasks throughout the day.
  • Use general measuring instruments such as indicators, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, gage blocks, rules, protractors, and height gages.
  • Enter inspection data into a computer software program.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance such as changing fluids and filters.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and machine work area.
  • Follow company written policy and documented procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience setting up and running EDMs or minimum 3-5 years of experience setting up and running CNC Lathes and Mills or Technical Training College with the focus of study being CNC setups and operation.
  • Ability to read blueprints and knowledge of GD&T is a must.
  • Knowledge of Esprit programs with an understanding of cutting parameters.
  • An understanding of both the Metric and English measuring systems is a must.
  • Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.
  • High School Diploma or Technical Training Certificate.

Working Conditions:

  • Working in a production environment.
  • Required exposure to industrial oils, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesives, and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
  • Requirement for some independent actions and/or decisions is expected.
  • Required to work in a non-air-conditioned setting.
  • Some repetitive motion required on occasion.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required daily: periodic lifting of materials and parts weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Required intermittent long periods of sitting and standing.
