Job Description:

The Machine Operator 4 is responsible for safely setting up and operating packaging machines to ensure correct packaging and coding. They use computer-controlled equipment to operate automatic or semi-automatic machines and ensure all quality specifications are met. Key responsibilities include inspecting and monitoring packaged products and communicating issues with equipment or quality to supervisors.

The hourly rate starts at $25.20/hr plus a $1/hr shift differential, with regular increases at 3, 6, and 12 months, contingent on attendance and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Retrieve daily paperwork and check production schedules.
• Install correct film tubes and ensure proper threading and coding.
• Adjust programming for codes, seals, and bag alignment.
• Inspect bags periodically and make adjustments as needed.
• Communicate production issues to relief personnel and supervisors.
• Call maintenance for mechanical issues.
• Report problems such as extraneous matter, broken parts, or film issues.
• Follow safety guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout, SOPs, and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Direct packers to ensure proper packaging according to procedures.
• Set up and adjust machines before production starts.
• Monitor equipment and record packaging reports accurately.
• Ensure all codes are correct on packaging materials and paperwork.
• Stack and transport finished pallets properly.
• Communicate shift updates and oversee training of temporary workers.
• Adhere to quality standards and GMP and GSP practices.
• Report defects, unsafe conditions, or acts to supervisors.
• Practice 5S and maintain cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
