Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America in the United States is seeking an operator to run fab and assembly equipment to produce Hexacomb safely and efficiently. Shift is Monday through Thursday 7:00pm - 5:00am with overtime and occasional Friday shifts; starting pay is $20.30/hr rising to $21.50/hr with training, and third shift includes a $0.35 differential.

You will follow safety rules, perform startup/run/shutdown on listed equipment, ensure product quality, and train temporaries while supporting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be able to read at an acceptable level.
• Basic math including multiplication and division.
• Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and policies and promote safety culture.
• Start up, run, and shut down fab and assembly equipment (e.g., slitter #1, offline PSA, pallet saw, wedge cutter, die press, Assembly table).
• Ensure product quality in all aspects (slit positions, depth, dimensions, labeling, packaging).
• Train and direct temporary employees when needed.
• Run equipment efficiently; reduce set up time, speed, and waste.
• Handle paperwork and data (quality check sheets, drawings, BOM, data entry).
• Be open to new ideas; foster strong interdepartmental teamwork.

• Follow all safety rules and policies, make suggestions to improve safety and look out for fellow employee's safety. Work to improve our safety culture.
• Be able to start up, run, and shut down all fab and assembly equipment, currently slitter #1, offline PSA, pallet saw, wedge cutter, die press, and Assembly table.
• Ensure the quality of product produced in all regards, such as slit positions and depth, dimensions, labeling, and packaging.
• Train and direct temporary employees when needed.
• Run all equipment as efficiently as possible, while working to continuously improve set up time, speed, and waste.
• Understand and handle all aspects of paperwork and data, such as quality check sheets, drawings, Bill of Materials, data entry into our software.
• Be open to trying new ideas, all the time.
• Have and encourage very strong teamwork between departments. Ensure lines of responsibility are blurred between departments.
