Job summary

Berkshire Corporation is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Cross Cutter Operator for our 3rd shift operation in North Carolina. Hours are 12a – 8a, Monday night through Friday.

The role focuses on hitting production targets while maintaining quality, with emphasis on teamwork and independent problem-solving. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and up to 12 months in manufacturing, preferably in cleanroom or textile environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Up to 12 months manufacturing experience; cleanroom/textile background preferred.
  • Excellent attendance history and reliability.
  • Read and follow multi-step instructions and ISO Work Instructions.
  • Record production data accurately.
  • Use basic math and measurement tools.
  • Ability to understand formulas, charts, and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Refer to Manufacturing Order for details and specs.
  • Set up Cross Cutter machines per setup specs.
  • Operate Ultrasonic Cross Cutter.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections.
  • Complete Run Sheet and Quality Checklist.
  • Check inventory and wrap/ship materials; enter orders in M3/ERP.

Berkshire Corporation is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Cross Cutter Operator for our 3rd shift operation; hours are 12a – 8a, Monday (Sunday night) through Friday.

The primary objective of this role is to hit production targets while maintaining exceptional quality standards. The ideal candidate balances collaborative teamwork with independent initiative, bringing a proactive, problem-solving mindset and sharp attention to detail. We seek an individual who partners effectively with peers and leadership, exhibits mature judgment, and consistently operates with loyalty, honesty, and integrity.

Qualifications of Candidate:
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Three to twelve months related manufacturing experience; textile industry and cleanroom experience preferred.
  • Proven record of exceptional attendance in previous positions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions which contain several steps and may require a choice when changing conditions call for a different action.
  • Ability to record production related information in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow ISO Work Instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve which requires one or two operations.
  • Ability to use of basic math, including multiplication, division, decimals and fractions using a calculator.
  • Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, diagrams, scanning devices and adjustable measuring instruments.
  • Ability to check reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required using basic knowledge of the position.
  • Ability to use judgement to comply with instructions, prescribed routines and methods.
Job Description—Cross Cutting:
  • Refer to Manufacturing Order to determine details and specifications of material to be produced.
  • Set up Cross Cutter(s) according to Machine Set Up specifications.
  • Operate Ultrasonic Cross Cutter.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections.
  • Complete Manufacturing Run Sheet and Quality Checklist.
  • Check inventory of needed items to package, label, and wrap for shipment and enter orders in M3/ERP as needed.
Job Expectations:
  • Observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and machines properly.
  • Ability to work overtime on an as needed basis.
  • Common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
  • Expectation to work scheduled hours, arriving on time and staying through end of shift.
  • Other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing for up to eight hours per day.
  • Use of hands to run product and apply labels.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Exposure to and operation of machinery with moving parts.
  • Moderate noise level, hearing protection may be required.
  • Close vision for inspection of process.
  • Ability to follow Production Dress Protocol.
  • Pushing and pulling (pallet jack).
