Machine Operator

Uses advanced processes to set up, adjust, and operate various machine tools to form and/or machine aerospace-quality detail hardware.

Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform setups and complex operations with engine lathes, milling machines, punch presses, forming presses, shear, press brake, expander, and other machinery on production hardware.
  • Detect faulty processes and provide input for their resolution.
  • Interpret and follow written instructions, sketches, drawings, and documents.
  • Use precision instruments to check tolerances and quality of parts.
  • Adhere to established standards and safety procedures.
  • Ensure proper documentation on manufacturing planning and paperless timecard system.
  • Develop new jobs when applicable.
  • Train others on basic operations and skills.
  • Assist in process and tool improvements.
  • Serve as a resource for resolving complex challenges.
Skills and Required Experience
  • Proficient in interpreting manufacturing plans, sketches, blueprints, specifications, GD&T.
  • Know when to ask for clarification.
  • Understand proper setup and tooling use.
  • Familiar with machine tools, precision instruments, manual dexterity.
  • Perform shop mathematics related to machine operations.
  • Demonstrate expertise across various machine types and processes.
Working Conditions
  • Operate equipment safely, using PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, heat-reflective garments, gloves.
Physical Requirements
  • Perform physical activities like climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, material handling.
