Position Description

This position requires responsibility and flexibility as a Utility Person and is the lead operator of selected operations. These tasks must be performed in compliance with safety policies and OSHA safety guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Learns and has the ability to train others on selected positions of the Abbey and McKay Mill, Slitter, Hydrotest area, Grooving, Scrap Saw and Re-Cut Saw.
  • Exhibits advanced proficiency on crane operation.
  • Reports to supervisor at the start of his/her shift for assignment.
  • Fills in where needed.
  • Attend all scheduled company and safety meetings.
  • Follows and enforces company safety policies and safe work practices at all times.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and cooperation with other employees and supervisors.
  • Cross-train on other positions.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Personal Protective Equipment required in all positions.
  • Use of other tools and equipment may be required.
  • Occasional overtime.
  • Warehouse environment, uncontrolled climate year-round.
  • Dusty and noisy work environment within OSHA guidelines.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Required Background, Competencies & Expertise

  • Ability to read, interpret and use micrometers, pi tape, and tape measure and other hand tools.
  • Operation of equipment such as but not limited to: overhead crane, ground operated equipment and machinery.
  • Basic computer and mathematics knowledge. Good verbal and written communication is a must.
  • Self-motivated.
