Machine Operator-3 (2nd shift - Set-Up Press)

This position reports to

Production Supervisor

Your role and responsibilities
  • Set up and operate multiple machines and manufacturing processes across various functions, utilizing advanced manufacturing and quality knowledge.
  • Use judgment to adjust or set up machines to produce quality parts efficiently, following dispatch lists and floor management directions.
  • Train and monitor MO-1 and MO-2 operators as directed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and proficiency in operating diverse manufacturing processes, working effectively within a team and cross-training co-workers.
  • Review work instructions and blueprints to determine specifications, machine adjustments, and material needs.
  • Document work using manufacturing systems.
  • Measure, mark, and prepare metal stock for machining or setup.
  • Operate machine tools, inspect standards, and ensure proper use of dies, tools, and jigs.
  • Properly dispose of waste and minimize scrap.
  • Analyze and adjust chemical solutions for washing or plating, and respond to spills or hazards.
  • Use measuring tools such as dial calipers, snap gauges, or micrometers.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance as instructed.
  • Stack, label, pack, and transport finished workpieces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the role
  • High school diploma or GED required; three or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience in extrusion and punch press manufacturing processes and setup.
  • Proficiency with machine tools, gauges, calipers, and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to interpret safety, operating, and maintenance instructions, and communicate effectively in English at a minimum 9th-grade level.
  • Basic math skills for measurement and calculations.
  • Problem-solving skills, data analysis, and ability to interpret technical diagrams.
