Job summary

Ryerson in the United States is seeking a Machine Operator to join our apprenticeship program. You will perform machine setup, part processing, and inspection, with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous learning.

This full-time evening shift (2:30pm–1am, Monday–Thursday) offers a starting hourly wage of $26.47–$28.06, with higher pay based on experience and credentials as you progress through the apprenticeship and develop in the role.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem solving.
• Some machine operations experience preferred but on-the-job training provided.
• Strong ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measuring equipment.
• Must be safety conscious and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and shutdown of the machine per instructions.
• Scrap management for remnants and waste.
• Material inspection to ensure quality specifications.
• Calibration of measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure the finished goods meet size, finish, and tolerances; follow safety procedures.
