Job description

SUMMARY: Load, unload, and operate automatic MIG welding stations or other production-related equipment at a standardized production rate. Support production operations by contributing to process improvement and efficiency plans. Perform other essential duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Produce assemblies according to work instructions to meet production and quality standards.
  • Prepare and inspect parts for production.
  • Operate first-time production parts and perform Poka Yoke procedures.
  • Participate in job rotation to promote cross-training and address ergonomic issues.
  • Read job specifications for machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specified lengths using scales, rules, or templates.
  • Align workpieces against stops or layout marks with dies or blades.
  • Activate machines by pushing buttons or pedals.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Ensure quality of assemblies through inspection, scrap records, statistical process controls, and station control sheets.
  • Measure workpiece dimensions for accuracy.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces.
  • Perform 5S activities to maintain workplace organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Required Skills:


Language Skills: Ability to read and understand written instructions, memos, and correspondence. Effective in presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.


Specialized Skills: Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Core competencies include Quality Focus, Communication, Personal Development, and Technical skills. Willingness to learn automotive industry concepts and programs through ongoing training and communication.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand for 8-12 hours, walk, stoop, bend, handle objects, reach, twist, sit, and communicate effectively. Frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds. Vision requirements include color distinction, close, distance, and depth perception.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and extreme temperatures. Occasionally exposed to vibration and loud noises. Use of personal protective equipment is required to ensure safety.


Required Experience:


Education: High school diploma or GED required.
