Machine Operator - 2nd Shift - Slitter/Rewinder

Lakewood

We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Slitter Machine Operator to join our team! In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for operating slitting equipment to cut large rolls of paper and/or film tapes into specified widths, ensuring top-quality results and efficient production.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Set up slitter machine by spacing score or razor blades according to job specifications and securing them in place.
  • Mount and properly thread rolls of material through the machine.
  • Start and monitor machine operation to ensure smooth material flow and quality cutting/winding.
  • Continuously inspect material for both flagged and unflagged defects.
  • Adjust machine settings and align material as needed using levers and dials.
  • Unload finished rolls and disengage the winding shaft safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area—cleaning blades, rollers, and sweeping as needed.
  • Return unused materials to proper storage areas.

What It Takes:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior slitting machine experience is a plus.

Skills

  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Comfortable working with both metric and standard measurement systems.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to safely operate a hoist.
  • This role requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.

Work Environment

  • Work takes place in the slitting department.
  • Hearing protection is required in this area.
