Job Summary/Purpose
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the machinery. This role ensures that machines run efficiently, safely, and produce high-quality components according to specifications. The operator must be able to perform complete setups, conduct quality inspections, and make necessary adjustments to maintain production standards.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Perform all machine operations, including complete setup, in accordance with company standards.
- Set up and operate various machines (e.g., roll formers, press brakes, shears, punch presses) used in cable tray manufacturing.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers to verify product dimensions and make machine adjustments as needed.
- Identify and set up equipment, including jigs and fixtures, for specific machines and production runs.
- Recognize and identify different types of materials used in production.
- Understand and select the appropriate tooling for each machine; identify when tooling requires replacement or repair.
- Keep tooling organized and stored in designated areas.
- Perform quality inspections on finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
- Lubricate machines, perform routine oil checks, and report any mechanical issues.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Adapt to changes in production schedules, tasks, or processes as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production operations.
Required Qualifications/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skilled in using hand tools, grinders and precision measuring tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

- Previous experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Exposure to noise, dust and metal particles.
- Conditions may be hot or cold depending on season and machinery.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
- Personal Protective Equipment is required based on area/machine/job.
