Emerson Discrete Automation in Aiken, South Carolina is seeking a 2nd Shift Machine Operator to grow with the team. You will read blueprints, apply GD&T, and use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices while loading parts and bar stock into CNC or manual machines.

Collaborating with the Fabrication Supervisor, you’ll help maintain quality, document scrap, and support TPM practices, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or two years' manufacturing experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read calipers, micrometers and tape measures.
  • Ability to communicate quality concerns to setup/lead personnel.
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T.
  • Use measuring instruments to maintain product quality.
  • Load parts and bar stock into CNC and manual machines.
  • Identify, document and dispose of scrap parts.
  • Trace order routers and ensure current location accuracy.

This role will work with the Fabrication Supervisor and will be responsible for various operations within the Fabrication Department, including reading and interpreting blueprints, using a variety of measurement tools, and loading parts/bar stock into and out of CNC or manual machines.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints including GD&T
  • Responsible for using a variety of measuring instruments to maintain product quality including Calipers, Micrometers, Height Stands and Bore Gages.
  • Must load parts and/or bar stock/parts into and out of CNC and or manual machine(s) as directed.
  • Identify, document, and dispose of scrap parts.
  • Scan order routers to and from equipment as necessary to ensure current order location traceability.
  • Add hydraulic oil, lube oil(s) and/or cutting fluids to the machine(s) when needed as part of the overall TPM process.
  • Obey all safety rules and stop work if continuing is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition. Report all safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the department supervisor and or leads.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • High school diploma / GED or two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to learn to read and use calipers, micrometers, measuring tape, and other measuring devices.
  • Ability to communicate with the setup and/or lead personnel to explain quality issues or concerns.
  • Act with the utmost integrity, professionalism, and positive attitude in all communication and interaction situations.
  • Must be a team player.
