Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Machine Operator 2 at Haworth's Wood Plant, Big Rapids, MI.

This role involves operating assigned production machinery to complete customer orders, adhering to company standards.

Major Responsibilities

• Access electronic production system for daily scheduling.
• Verify parts received against pick tickets for accuracy in counts, colors, part numbers, and packaging; monitor material flow and update systems accordingly.
• Select appropriate machine settings or programs per specifications.
• Set up and operate machinery; make minor adjustments and simple repairs as needed.
• Perform change-overs, adjusting tooling or tolerances and selecting programs.
• Investigate and document production nonconformance issues.
• Operate powered industrial trucks and overhead lift systems if required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Two years of manufacturing experience or one year at Haworth.
• Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial truck certification.

Environmental & Physical Demands

• Work involves large machinery; risk of cuts, scrapes, bruises.
• Exposure to dust, noise, solvents, heat, paint, lubricants, glue, fiberglass, and alcohol.
• Must maintain constant alertness to prevent injuries.
• Eye protection required; hearing protection may be necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, with assistance for heavier items.
• Requires walking, bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, standing for long periods, and repetitive arm/hand movements.
• May involve climbing stairs and ladders.

Ideally, candidates will also demonstrate proficiency with electronic production and maintenance management systems, and familiarity with technology tools such as PCs, tablets, RF guns.
