Job summary

Pratt Industries in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Machine Operator for 1st shift. You will be responsible for all activities related to running the machine, including setup, operation, cleanup, and suggesting improvements to operations.

The role requires monitoring quality, performing maintenance, and assisting in problem solving while adhering to safety and housekeeping standards. Prior corrugated industry exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to learn and assist in mechanical setup.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot problems and assist in repairs.
  • Must have reasonable knowledge of current Production Software.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor product quality for issues like loose liner, warp, and print accuracy.
  • Check equipment for damage and maintenance needs.
  • Operate machinery to meet capacity and speed targets; train helpers as needed.
  • Cross-train on other machines and support the production schedule.

Overview

Job Description


  • Responsible for all activities associated with running the machine, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.



Primary Responsibilities


  • Monitor product quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.

  • Check equipment for damage.

  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.

  • Train and assist First and Second Helpers with job duties on the machine.

  • Cross-train on other machines.

  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.

  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.

  • Switch duties with First Helper as necessary.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

  • Adhere to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to the supervisor.

  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.



Qualifications


  • Must be able to learn and assist in mechanical set up.

Educational Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred, not required.

  • Prior experience as a helper preferred.

  • Prior experience in the corrugated industry preferred.



Physical Demands


  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.

  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.



Work Environment


  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit).
