Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Machine Operator I in Rock Island, IL. The role involves setting up and operating heavy machinery to produce quality parts, with attention to safety and efficiency. Schedule is 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and the base pay is $19.00–$21.00 per hour.

The position requires understanding blueprints, basic measuring, and the ability to perform preventive maintenance and minor adjustments as needed. OT may be required based on production needs.

JOB DETAILS

Base pay rate is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Schedule: 3:00 PM - 11:30PM, Monday - Friday

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.

• Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment
• Ability to set-up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
• Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality
• Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
• Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attaches identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts.
• Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area.
• Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
• Utilize scanning equipment
• Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
• Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules
• Team player and keeping safety first
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
• Willing/able to work overtime

Qualifications

• Experience working in a manufacturing/production environment
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Cover and band stacks of wall panels
• Ability to work independently and with others
• High school diploma or GED

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to read, hear, talk, drive lift trucks, wear PPE, and lift up to 65lbs. repetitively
• Must be able to stand or walk approximately 7 ½ hours minimum per work shift
• Must be able to tolerate high temperatures in the summer months
• Noise level is moderate to loud
