Location Description

Our plant, located in Lansing, IL, pasteurizes raw eggs to remove harmful bacteria for a safer product to the foodservice industry.

Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for complying with Safety work rules at all times and reinforcing Safety as a Core Value. Ensures all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed to reduce product and process variability, and ensures regulatory compliance. Assists the shift supervisor in managing the Packaging/Pelbo Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in training processing and production personnel, updating training as equipment or procedures change.
  2. Help provide a safe work environment and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  3. Maintain sanitation standards of the facility.
  4. Ensure a safe and healthy workplace, adhering to safety policies and regulations.
  5. Direct work of packaging operators and utility personnel for efficient operation.
  6. Coordinate with processors on production scheduling and line sterilization.
  7. Maintain effective relationships within the department and with other areas.
  8. Verify accuracy of documentation such as downtime, temperature charts, and other records.
  9. Work closely with Pasteurizer and Packaging leads to ensure smooth product flow.
  10. Manage incoming flow of pasteurized eggs, maintaining first-in/first-out.
  11. Communicate shift changes effectively.
  12. Adhere to GMPs, maintain sanitation, and report any issues affecting safety or quality.
  13. Operate Pelbo machine as directed.
  14. Oversee machine operation to prevent jams and ensure cleanliness.
  15. Follow PPE, GMP, HACCP, SOP, SSOP, USDA regulations, and keep records updated.
  16. Report maintenance issues affecting productivity or safety.
  17. Encourage suggestions for improvement.
  18. Maintain attendance and safety policies.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly.
  • Follow verbal instructions and work indoors in a wet, humid environment.
  • Travel stairs, work independently, and have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to multitask.
  • Follow GMPs, safety regulations, and wear PPE.
  • Complete Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification.
  • Operate specific equipment or tools.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Read and interpret safety, operating, and maintenance documents. Write routine reports. Communicate effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and interpret data and graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Follow instructions, solve problems involving concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Operate specific equipment or tools.
  • Work with computers, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Understand specialized terminology.
  • Fluency in another language is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 to $20.00 per hour.
