Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials NA on the warehouse floor is seeking a 2nd shift Material Handler to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material per work orders. You will operate cranes and forklifts, keep the area safe and clean, and record measurements as required.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment per specifications, verifying items against setup notes, assisting in packing, and supporting lean and quality initiatives while maintaining safety compliance and following

• An individual must possess a high school diploma/ GED.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Perform basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
• Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
• Properly set up equipment to run material to meet specifications.
• Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
• Verify product meets set up specifications and record measurements.
• Communicate changes/clarifications to orders with sales.
• Perform equipment preventive maintenance and general clean-up.
• Enter/delete material identification tags per instructions.
• Assist in packaging of material per instructions and work orders.
• Maintain issued measuring equipment in working condition.
• Operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
• Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
• Provide feedback on machine efficiency and product quality.
• Train others when required and support lean/quality activities.

Job Summary

Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Job Description

2nd Shift paying $20.00 per hour plus $.65 shift premium.

Key Accountabilities:

• Must be certified in the material handler position.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
• Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to set up note specifications.
• Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
• Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).
• Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes/clarification to orders.
• Perform equipment preventive maintenance; Perform general clean-up.
• Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions.
• Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
• Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
• Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
• Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
• Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
• Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put him/herself or other individuals in an unsafe situation.
• Train others when required.
• Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality.
• This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Minimum Requirements:

• An individual must posses a high school diploma/ GED
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous warehouse experience - especially in the metals industry
• Previous forklift experience
• Use of hand held measuring tools
• Computer literate.
