Job summary

Henry Company (A Carlisle Company) is a leading provider in Building Envelope Systems®. We seek a Maintenance Technician to service production equipment and control systems, troubleshoot PLCs, and document automation issues.

Expect preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and collaboration with vendors; flexibility for extended hours as needed. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years PLC programming/troubleshooting, knowledge of VFDs, motors, and electrical schematics, plus strong communication skills

Qualifications

  • Electrical troubleshooting, repair and installation on plant services.
  • General knowledge of PLC technology.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting on production equipment and piping.
  • Pump troubleshooting, rebuilding, repair and replacement.
  • Asphalt plant knowledge is a plus.
  • Apply OSHA and Henry safety standards; lockout/tagout and confined spaces.
  • Read electrical schematics, piping, and mechanical drawings/blueprints.
  • Motor starters, VFDs, circuits and panels, 480V 3-phase knowledge.
  • Pipe fitting and welding experience.
  • Boilers, thermal oil heaters, and industry controls knowledge.
  • Industrial air compressors and pneumatic piping knowledge.
  • Use of electrical/air/hand tools; arc welding and open flame work.
  • Install/rebuild progressive cavity, diaphragm, and gear pumps.
  • Complete regular checklists; troubleshoot motor control equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; team player.
  • 3+ years PLC programming/troubleshooting/repair (Allen-Bradley preferred).
  • HMI control usage and diagnostics experience.
  • Strong automation system and electrical knowledge; test equipment proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and develop new PM procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness at work site and maintenance shop.
  • Adapt to changing requirements per equipment/process needs.
  • Troubleshoot and solve equipment/process issues safely and cost-effectively.
  • Communicate needs and issues clearly to plant leadership; document accordingly.
  • Coordinate with vendors/contractors for parts pricing.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision; follow directions precisely.
  • Hours: 8-12 hours per shift; overtime/weekend as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on production equipment and control systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls and PLCs). Evaluate and recommend equipment improvements to improve efficiency and capability. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and control problems. Prepare technical reports to document automation issues.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • You should have a strong background in electrical troubleshooting, repair, and installation of new and existing plant services. In addition, you should have:
  • General knowledge of PLC technology.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in production and plant equipment, including piping experience consisting of cutting, threading, and installations.
  • Experience with pump troubleshooting, rebuilding, repair and replacement.
  • Asphalt plant and processing knowledge is a strong plus.
  • Ability to apply OSHA and Henry safety standards and regulations to everyday applications; Example is Lock out, Tag out, and Try or Confined space.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics, piping, and mechanical drawings and/or blueprints.
  • Electrical applications and processes of motor starter(s), Variable frequency drives, electrical circuits, and electrical panels. Working knowledge 480-3 phase voltage as it pertains to motors and industrial equipment.
  • Pipe fitting and pipe welding
  • Working knowledge of steam boilers and thermal oil heaters, their application(s) and controls.
  • Working knowledge of industrial air compressors and pneumatic piping.
  • Use of electrical, air driven, and manual hand tools and/or equipment
  • Use of arc welders, acetylene torches, and various other open flame equipment
  • Installing and rebuilding progressive cavity, diaphragm, and gear driven pumps.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly check list(s) as required.
  • Interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely: motor starters, run relays; Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs); Servo motors and controls.
  • Good oral and written skills.
  • A team player approach and the ability to work well with others.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and repair (Allen-Bradley preferred, Siemens, or similar acceptable).
  • Proven experience with HMI control usage and diagnostics.
  • Strong knowledge of automation systems, electrical circuits, control systems, and industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and PLC diagnostic tools.
  • Computer literacy is a plus.
Education And Experience
  • Required:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred:
    • 5 to 7 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
Working Conditions
  • Work from step ladders as well as extension ladders or lifts.
  • Inside and/or outside
  • Operate all hand tools such as drills, grinders, saws, etc.
  • Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used
  • Eye and hearing protection is required at all times on the production floor.
  • Safety toe shoes (steel/composite) must cover ankle
  • Other PPE as defined by management within assigned department.
