Job summary

United Companies, a CRH Company, is seeking a Vac Truck Operator to use high-pressure water and vacuum systems to dig precisely, uncover utilities, and contribute to construction projects. The role may also involve operating a sweeper truck and supporting the excavation crew during downtime.

Wage range is $25-$30 per hour based on experience. Must have CDL Class A/B with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements and pass pre-employment screening. Travel to job sites across western Colorado is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class A or B CDL; Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements required.
• Previous vacuum truck, industrial services, construction, utility, or related equipment experience preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate hydrovac equipment and perform hydrovac duties.
• Safely operate sweeper truck.
• Travel to job sites throughout western Colorado.
• Work under excavation crew when not operating vacuum/sweeper.
• Protect critical underground infrastructure.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections (pre- and post-trip).
• Maintain clean, organized trucks and job sites.
• Follow DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Attend safety meetings.
• Perform routine inspections and minor repairs of hydrovac equipment.
• Prepare work areas with safety measures and hazard controls.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Vac Truck Operator uses high-pressure water and vacuum systems to dig precisely and efficiently, uncover utilities, and contribute to various construction projects. This person may also operate a sweeper truck and work under the direction of the excavation crew during down time.

Wage Range: $25-$30 per hour, dependent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Safely operate hydrovac equipment and performing hydrovac duties in a variety of working environments.
• Safely operate sweeper truck.
• Travel to job sites throughout western Colorado.
• Will work under an excavation crew when not operating a vacuum or sweeper truck.
• Protect critical underground infrastructure.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain clean, organized trucks and job sites.
• Follow all DOT regulations and Pro-Vac safety standards.
• Attend safety meetings
• Performing routine inspections and minor repairs of the hydrovac equipment
• Preparing work areas by setting up safety measures and addressing potential hazards
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Valid Class A or Class B CDL; Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements required.
• Previous vacuum truck, industrial services, construction, utility, or related equipment experience preferred.

Work Requirements

• Must be 18 years in age or older.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Experience in construction or utility work is a plus.
• Familiar and compliant with Federal DOT safety and drug and alcohol testing regulations
• Ability to work variable shifts with extended hours.
• Ability to work manual labor in varying weather conditions.
• Prior hydrovac equipment operations or related industrial experience preferred.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, overtime, and extended travel assignments as needed.
