Job summary

GEOTEK in Stewartville, MN is seeking a Machine Operator (Filament Winding Operator) to manage HMI operations, veil applications, and resin mixes, including prepping, coating, and pigment. The role supports safety, quality, and efficiency across the filament winding process and may assist in other areas as needed.

Shifts available nights Monday-Thursday 4:00 PM–2:30 AM with a $3.00/hour shift differential and a $5,000 sign-on bonus; other shifts with differential also offered.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail is essential for monitoring chemical levels and preparing materials.
  • Ability to read and write English is required for documentation and instructions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication are important in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills help identify and report issues to supervisors.
  • Safety, quality, and productivity are emphasized in daily duties.
  • A basic education credential is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor chemical levels and MVP system inventory.
  • Operate HMI controls and manage veil application and coating.
  • Handle and prepare chemicals for operations as directed.
  • Follow written work instructions and procedures.
  • Assist in Filament Winding and other plant areas as production demands.
  • Support repaint activities for repairs and quality checks.
  • Identify problems and report to team leaders.
  • Operate Over Head Cranes to move products and parts.
  • Document and submit all required paperwork.

The Machine Operator (Filament Winding Operator) is responsible for all poles and processes associated with HMI operations, Veil applications, Resin mixes; including but not limited to prepping, coating, and pigment. This person plays a critical role in the Safety, Quality, and Efficiency of Filament Winding operations. The Operator will also help in any other areas of the department and/or manufacturing plant, as needed.

Compensation:

GEOTEK's compensation model is skill-based, and starting pay levels are determined by previous experience and transferable skills. The range for this position breaks down as follows:

  • Level 1: $22.50
  • Level 2: $23.18 - $24.50
  • Level 3: $25.50 - $26.50
  • Level 4: $27.30 - $28.50

Hiring manager will determine pay level based off experience, skillset, and knowledge.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitors all chemical levels & Inventory for MVP systems.
  • HMI controls.
  • Veil applications and coating.
  • Responsible for all chemical handling & preparing chemicals for operations.
  • Follows work instructions & procedures.
  • Assists in all areas of Filament Winding, and other plant areas as production demands.
  • Provides support in repaints for repairs.
  • Identifies problems and reports issues to team leaders.
  • Using Over Head Cranes to move products and parts.
  • Documenting and Submitting of all required paperwork.
Job Requirements
  • Work while paying attention to detail
  • Able to read and write the English language.
  • Able to measure in grams/kilos.
  • Previous chemical mixing or coating experience (preferred).
  • Able to work with minimal Supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Strong emphasis on Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Physical Work Conditions
  • The position is located on the production floor, standing for up to 10 hours a day.
  • Work with or around power tools and chemicals.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally.
