Job Title: Slitter Machine Operator Job Description
This role operates and maintains slitter machinery in a large, high-volume metal manufacturing plant that fabricates heavy wall pipe and related products. You will work with metal materials, support continuous production on rotating shifts, and help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable machine performance in a demanding industrial environment.
You will join a long-established, globally active steel pipe manufacturer with more than six decades of industry experience and a broad portfolio of products serving automotive, construction, machinery, and energy markets. The organization offers significant opportunities for growth and advancement within a very large operation, supported by full benefits and paid time off. Employees benefit from structured bonus programs, including annual and monthly production- and safety-based incentives, as well as shift differentials for night and weekend work, creating strong earning potential in addition to a stable career path.

The environment is greasy, dirty, and noisy, with extensive use of heavy machinery such as conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, CNC machines, straighteners, heat treatment furnaces, and slitter equipment. The machine shop team consists of approximately 15 people within a much larger plant population, and work is performed in close coordination with other departments. The plant follows a rotating DuPont shift schedule every two weeks, with built-in overtime and typical workweeks of around 60 hours. Shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with a pattern of 5 days on, 2 days off, 7 days on, and 5 days off. Night shift and weekend night work receive additional differentials. The position requires steel-toe footwear; all other personal protective equipment is provided. Typical attire includes jeans and a work shirt, with transition to a company uniform over time.
