We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our manufacturing team in a key operational role. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of custom and automated machinery within a dynamic production environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical and analytical abilities, a commitment to quality standards, and the communication skills necessary to collaborate effectively across departments. This is a supervised role that also carries responsibility for mentoring and guiding lower-level production personnel. Flexibility to work any assigned shift, including weekends and overtime, at any designated production site is required to meet business needs.
Responsibilities
- Operate custom and automated machinery safely and efficiently within the manufacturing area, including general machine operation, line balancing, and loading assembly and packaging equipment
- Understand and apply safe equipment operating practices and identify potential hazards in the manufacturing environment
- Adhere to quality systems and guidelines including component specifications, equipment operating parameters, data collection, and cleanliness requirements
- Identify and properly report equipment deficiencies and component defects to ensure compliance with quality guidelines
- Operate process test equipment to verify that process outputs conform to specified requirements, including drawings and validated procedures
- Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of assigned equipment
- Perform electrical and mechanical adjustments as needed
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional staff including production team members, QA, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel
- Provide guidance and training to lower-level production personnel, including other machine operators
Skills
- Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to operate complex custom and automated equipment
- Solid understanding of quality systems, component specifications, and validated manufacturing procedures
- Ability to identify equipment deficiencies and component defects and take appropriate corrective action
- Capability to perform basic electrical and mechanical adjustments on production equipment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Strong teamwork orientation with the ability to work alongside diverse groups of colleagues
- Basic computer proficiency including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to mentor and train lower-level production staff
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, weekends, and overtime as required by business needs
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the basic operation of automated assembly or packaging equipment, covering at least 25% of plant equipment, or equivalent experience
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED — Required
- Associate's Degree — Preferred
