POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the Machine Operator sets up, operates, and monitors assigned production equipment to complete work orders safely, accurately, and on schedule. This position reviews job specifications, verifies materials, performs in-process quality checks, records production activity, completes routine cleaning and preventative maintenance, and promptly communicates equipment, material, or quality concerns. The Machine Operator works closely with the Production Manager and the production team to maintain consistent output and reduce scrap, rework, and downtime.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reviews the daily production schedule and work orders to confirm job specifications, materials, tooling, and priorities before beginning production.
• Sets up, loads, operates, and monitors assigned production equipment in accordance with training, work instructions, and established safety procedures.
• Completes routine changeovers and makes machine adjustments within the scope of training and authorization.
• Inspects first-piece and in-process output to verify accuracy and quality and documents results as required.
• Maintains consistent production rates and completes orders on schedule while protecting product quality and customer requirements.
• Accurately records completed quantities, scrap, material usage, equipment downtime, and job status in required company systems or production records.
• Performs routine cleaning, basic troubleshooting, and assigned preventative maintenance. Escalates issues that require advanced technical support or repair.
• Promptly communicates equipment, material, order, and quality concerns to the Machine Center Specialist, lead, or Production Manager and supports effective shift handoffs.
• Handles and stages materials safely, maintains an organized work area, and supports accurate inventory through proper material use and documentation.
• Follows all safety, quality, housekeeping, machine-guarding, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Participates in training and cross-training, applies feedback, and shares accurate job-specific information with team members.
• Supports efficient manufacturing by monitoring accuracy, scrap, utilization, rework, equipment downtime, and general housekeeping.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous machine operation, manufacturing, or print production experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn machine setup, changeover, operation, and basic troubleshooting procedures.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, product specifications, technical information, and written work instructions.
• Basic computer proficiency and the ability to enter production information accurately.
• Basic math and measurement skills appropriate to the assigned equipment and products.
• Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on safety, quality, accuracy, timeliness, reliability, productivity, and housekeeping.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a production team.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to adjust to changing production priorities while maintaining consistent and regular attendance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

There is a moderate risk of injury in the production environment. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform work that may require prolonged standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and handling materials. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average 40 to 45 hours per week. Additional hours may be required based on business needs. Consistent and regular attendance is required.
