This position is located in McPherson, KS, a city known for its rich manufacturing heritage and community spirit. As a member of the McPherson-based team, you will contribute to our manufacturing excellence by transforming raw materials into precision-engineered components. Your primary responsibilities include setting up and operating specialized machinery with precision, tracking time accurately, requisitioning materials, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. You will report directly to the Production Supervisor and the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Set up machines and identify materials for job use.
- Complete material requisitions accurately.
- Produce components to quality standards using appropriate equipment.
- Enter time and labor reporting accurately on a daily basis.
- Handle materials, tools, and equipment manually or with a jib crane.
- Layout, cut, and fit parts for welding as required.
- Fabricate new metal components according to product data sheets and compliance standards.
- Develop innovative solutions while maintaining safety, stability, and security standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment to professional standards and keep the workstation clean and orderly.
- Coordinate workflow with team members and third-party agents.
- Maintain high-quality standards as determined by quality and engineering standards.
- Manage workflow, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot problems daily.
- Employ physical strength and endurance to complete machining tasks.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
General Duties
- Follow all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
- Fabricate small components.
- Complete production and quality assurance forms.
- Participate actively in team meetings and discussions.
- Interface with engineering to communicate information accurately.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities or events as required.
- Adhere to Quality Management System Requirements.
- Follow and maintain 5S activities.
- Read and comprehend procedures written in English.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- 3-5 years in a custom build shop preferred.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to operate a computer for data input and reading.
- Ability to operate hand tools and read measuring devices.
- Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics to complete standard work.

Physical Demands
