Job description

Job Summary:

The Dino Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machinery that cuts extruded clay into bricks and stacks them onto kiln cars for firing. This role involves working with production schedules, including irregular shifts, holidays, and weekends, to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the brick setting process.

Work Schedule:

  • Shifts available: Day and night shifts.
  • May be required to work weekends and holidays based on production needs.
  • Standard work week includes 40 hours, 7:30AM-6:00PM, timing depends on production needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation:

  • Operate control panels to start conveyors that move clay columns through cutters and stack bricks.
  • Use hydraulic pickup heads to transfer bricks onto kiln cars.
  • Manually straighten, remove, and replace bricks as needed.
  • Measure bricks for quality assurance.
  • Reposition outer corner bricks to stabilize stacks.
  • Handle netting and paper for brick layering and protection.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, including wire and airbag replacements, spreader bar adjustments, and lubrication of the Dino machine.

Housekeeping and Maintenance:

  • Keep the Moulding Department clean and organized.
  • Assist with conveyor line and mill room equipment repairs.
  • Support extruder operations during changeovers and routine maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Comfortable working in high-temperature environments.
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment, toxic fumes, and solvents.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move around for extended periods.
  • Mechanical aptitude with good hand/eye coordination, depth perception, and balance.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Must be detail-oriented and capable of working in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with all levels of staff.
