Job summary

Valley-Iron in Fresno, CA is seeking a Machine Operator to operate all machinery safely and efficiently, perform quality checks, and ensure parts meet prints. You will inspect first article and ongoing parts for accuracy throughout production.

Responsibilities include loading materials, setting up machines per job specs, reading blueprints, and maintaining a clean, safe work area; shift is 2:00pm–11:00pm.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of machine operating experience in metal or related industry.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings; basic measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings to determine job requirements.
• Set up machines according to job specifications.
• Measure parts for accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and scales.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Load and retrieve material; handle plates weighing 10–200 lbs.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and assist with yard cleanup.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Summary:

The primary duties of a Machine operator are to operate all machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Perform quality checks and produce accurate parts. Operate the machines using correct materials to produce various shapes and sizes to ensure tolerances specified on the prints or drawings are correct. On the first article and throughout the process, checking the parts you are producing for accuracy.

Shift: 2:00pm - 11:00pm

Essential Functions:

• Reading blueprints and drawings.
• Setting up the machine.
• Measuring parts for accuracy and consistency.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Retrieve material, load material on machines, setup machine to each job’s specifications.
• This includes pulling plates off machines from ten (10) pounds to two hundred (200) pounds, depending on material.
• Cleaning and de-slagging parts.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• General yard clean up.
• All other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

1. Minimum Education Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. Minimum Experience Preferred: 2 years machine operating experience, metal or related industry, preferred.
3. Skills Required:
4. Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings
5. Attention to detail.
6. Knowledge of sheet and plate products (grades, thickness)
7. Proficient in reading and writing English.
8. Must know how to read calipers, micrometers, scales, angle finders, tape measures, and understand different scales of measurement.

Physical Job Description:

• Typical Working Conditions:

1. Warehouse/outside environment. Will be in the elements, such as cold, heat, rain, wind, fog, etc.
2. May be exposed to chemicals and airborne particles.
3. Noise levels Vary.
4. Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity
5. Lifting up to 50lbs

• Equipment Used:

1. Forklift, overhead cranes, all Valley Iron processing machines, PPE, measuring tape, calipers.

• Essential Physical Tasks:

1. Employees will use their hands to pull material, stack material, and will use their hands to move materials. Will use hands to do maintenance repairs when needed. Bending, standing, twisting, walking, lifting, climbing up and down forklifts. Minimal sit time.
