Job summary

MATTR in Ohio is seeking a Machine Operator to help ensure customer orders are completed accurately by setting up, operating, monitoring, and supporting multiple conversion processes. This role supports production quality, safety, and efficiency while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include reading work orders, adjusting machines, and collaborating with maintenance on repairs, with opportunities to work across Brady Spooling and other conversion areas as

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines within the Conversion department to meet customer specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Position, adjust, and feed materials manually to complete production orders.
  • Read and interpret work orders to determine product specifications and material requirements.
  • Identify equipment issues and notify supervision of malfunctions.
  • Operate various work cells including heavy wall, thin wall, printing, CPC, auto bagger, and end cap.
  • Support other Conversion areas (Brady Spooling) as workload demands.
  • Participate in continuous improvement to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to Health, Safety & Environmental programs to maintain an Incident and Injury Free workplace.
  • Train new and junior teammates on SOPs, safe work practices, and quality standards.

Summary

As a Machine Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring customer orders are completed accurately and efficiently by setting up, operating, monitoring, and supporting multiple conversion processes. This position contributes directly to production quality, safety, and operational performance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Conversion department.

  • Support operational needs by working across additional Conversion areas, including Brady Spooling operations, based on workload demands.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) programs that support an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workplace.
  • Follow established Leader Standard Work requirements and operate equipment safely and effectively.
  • Train new and junior team members on standard operating procedures, safe work practices, and product quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read gauges, perform measurements, and compare results against specifications.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and production data entry.
  • Strong manual dexterity with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Effective verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect materials for quality compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance procedures, and work documentation.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movements.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
