Machine Operator

Job Summary

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining machinery in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient production processes while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to all safety protocols. The operator will also support team training, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exemplify Leadership + Management = Accountability (L+M=A)
  • Maximize Machine Operation & Efficiency
    • Monitor equipment and report any malfunctions
    • Test operation of machines periodically
    • Control and adjust machine settings
    • Identify and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues; escalate major malfunctions to the supervisor
    • Follow production schedules and maximize equipment utilization
  • Quality Control & Documentation
    • Conduct regular inspections of parts and finished products using measuring tools to ensure compliance with quality standards
    • Record any quality concerns and report deviations from specifications
    • Keep detailed and accurate records of approved and defective products
    • Ensure proper traceability and data collection for production batches
  • Safety & Cleanliness
    • Follow company and department safety procedures to ensure a hazard-free work environment
    • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor immediately
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area, free from debris or obstructions
    • Ensure equipment and tools are handled properly and maintained in good condition
  • Team Support & Training
    • Assist in training new team members on machine operation and safety procedures
    • Guide and monitor team members to ensure adherence to established workflows, standards and best practices
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Adherence
    • Stay up to date with process changes and updates from supervisors
    • Identify areas for process improvement and suggest enhancements to workflow efficiency
    • Work closely with other operators and supervisors to maintain a smooth production process
    • Follow all company procedures and work instructions for operating machinery
  • Additional Duties
    • Perform other relevant tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate measurements
  • Ability to accurately use and read measuring tools (e.g., rulers, calipers)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, production, or packaging environment
  • Familiarity with flexible packaging materials and related machinery
  • Previous experience with laminating, pouching, slitting, or printing machines

Physical Requirements (if required)

  • Ability to stand for an entire shift
  • Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects as needed
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
