Job summary

Allegion in Chino, CA seeks a skilled Machine Operator to set up and operate sheet metal fabrication and welding equipment. You will read blueprints, perform welds, and inspect parts to tolerance in a safety-conscious environment.

The role requires 1+ years of experience, ability to read technical drawings and BOMs, and basic math skills. A forklift certification is preferred and industrial maintenance will be part of daily tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience (Required).
• 1+ years of experience operating sheet metal fabrication machinery, N/C equipment, or welding tools (Required).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and product nomenclature (Required).
• Basic shop mathematics and use of precision measuring instruments (Required).
• Vocational training, welding certification, or formal technical trade education (Preferred).
• Forklift certification or ability/willingness to obtain certification (Preferred).

Machine Operator

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating sheet metal fabricating machinery and welding equipment to produce precision parts within established tolerances. As a Machine Operator, you will work from technical drawings and orders to execute fabrication, welding, and quality inspections with a moderate degree of autonomy while maintaining a safe and efficient work area.

What You Will Do:

• Set up and operate manual and N/C sheet metal fabricating and welding equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Plan, lay out, and perform arc and acetylene welding on various metals and alloys across vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and bills of materials (BOM).
• Perform quality inspections using precision measuring tools including calipers, tape measures, and levels.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on assigned machinery and tools.
• Operate hand and power tools (grinders, drills, sanders), perform manual material handling, and operate forklifts.
• Perform industrial paint spraying and order preparation as needed.

What You Need to Succeed:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience (Required)
• 1+ years of experience operating sheet metal fabrication machinery, N/C equipment, or welding tools (Required)
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, bills of materials, and product nomenclature (Required)
• Proven ability to perform basic shop mathematics and use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and tape measures (Required)
• Vocational training, welding certification, or formal technical trade education (Preferred)
• Forklift certification or ability/willingness to obtain certification (Preferred)

Compensation:

This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

• The expected Base Hourly Range: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
