Job description

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and safety‑focused CNC Machinist / Machine Operator to support our aerospace additive manufacturing (metal 3D printing) operations. This individual will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining advanced metal additive manufacturing and post‑processing equipment to produce flight‑critical aerospace components. The ideal candidate has experience in precision manufacturing, a hands‑on mindset, and a strong commitment to quality, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
Additive Manufacturing Operations
  • Operate and monitor metal 3D printing systems (e.g., SLM, EOS, Renishaw, Concept Laser, or equivalent) to ensure optimal build quality and throughput.
  • Prepare build plates, load materials (metal powders), and perform machine setup and calibration per standard operating procedures.
  • Inspect in‑process and completed parts using precision measurement tools and ensure conformance to aerospace specifications.
  • Manage part removal, depowdering, and post‑processing (heat treatment, surface finishing, machining support).
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of additive manufacturing areas, including powder handling and inert gas management.
Production Planning & Documentation
  • Follow detailed work instructions, travelers, and routers to ensure each job is executed according to AS9100 and internal QMS requirements.
  • Record process data, lot numbers, and build parameters accurately for traceability.
  • Assist with router updates, process sheets, and build documentation in collaboration with engineering.
  • Review build schedules and communicate status updates to production leadership.
Quality & Compliance
  • Perform first‑article inspections and dimensional verification of printed components.
  • Support process validation and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain awareness of AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP standards as applicable to additive operations.
  • Report nonconformances and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts.
Machine & Facility Maintenance
  • Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of additive machines and support systems.
  • Identify and report equipment issues to engineering or maintenance for timely resolution.
  • Assist with machine qualification and new material or parameter development when needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or technical degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in metal additive manufacturing, CNC machining, or aerospace production environment.
  • Familiarity with SLM/DMLS equipment, metal powder safety, and post‑processing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T, precision measurement, and metrology tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and adherence to process.
  • Comfortable working in cleanroom or controlled‑environment manufacturing settings.
