Job summary

Mersen is seeking a Machine Operator in Bay City, MI to set up, adjust and operate large machines with close tolerance and finish specifications. You will work under the Production Supervisor and contribute to the Mersen Quality System.

The role requires a minimum GED or high school diploma and 1–2 years related experience or training. You will follow drawings, setup instructions, and use precision instruments for in-process checks and final inspection.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification is a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• One or two years related experience and/or training preferred.
• Incumbents must follow supervisor instructions and fulfill other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate large machines with close tolerance specifications.
• Produce pilot pieces for inspection and check setups to correct variances.
• Work from part drawings and operating instructions; follow prescribed sequences.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments to set up, operate and verify work; perform final inspection under supervision.

MACHINE OPERATOR

Reports to Production Supervisor

Fully participate in and support the Mersen Quality System.

General Description:

Set up, adjust and operate a variety of large machines, perform machining operations involving close tolerance and finish specifications.

Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:

Ability to follow operational sequences prescribed.

• Operate machines to produce pilot pieces for inspection, check setups and make adjustments to correct variances.
• Work from part drawings, specifications, setup and operating instructions.
• Use a wide range of precision measuring instruments and devices to set up, operate and check work.
• Be responsible for final inspection under general supervision.

Continually improve and monitor quality through product delivery, conformance and performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Suggested high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
