Machine Operator

Our Atlanta, GA plant is seeking qualified candidates for Machine Operator positions in the production department. This entry-level, hourly role offers a premium for night shifts, with opportunities for advancement in operations. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, possess good communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, have manufacturing experience, and a strong desire to succeed and grow within the company.

How you will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Operate various manufacturing equipment safely, follow instructions, and perform assigned duties.
  • Work safely, adhere to all safety rules, lift, push, or pull over 50 lbs, navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout shifts.
  • Read a tape measure (to 1/16”), perform basic math, and utilize some computer skills.
  • Apply general mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Perform complete make-ready and shutdown procedures.
  • Understand quality inspection criteria, product identification, and labeling.
  • Maintain waste and efficiency standards.
  • Inspect equipment for proper operation and report issues.
  • Perform housekeeping, cleaning, and organizing tasks to ensure a clean work environment.
What you need to succeed:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness to work 8- or 10-hour shifts.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with management and staff.
  • Preferred: industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
  • Pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and physical.
