Job summary

The LEGO Group in Richmond, VA seeks a maintenance technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding systems, troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues, and support TPM initiatives.

You will document work in CMMS, participate in safety programs, collaborate with engineering and production teams, travel as needed, and uphold QEHS standards while contributing to continuous improvement and reliable production.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.
• Experience with injection molding equipment and ability to read blueprints/schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues using schematics and manuals.
• Support TPM initiatives and document maintenance activities in CMMS.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams on root cause analysis.
• Follow safety protocols including LOTO and participate in safety audits.
• Document work in CMMS and report equipment trends or recurring issues.
• Identify missing spare parts or tools and report them promptly.
• Participate in equipment installations, upgrades and modifications as assigned.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime and ensure production continuity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and documentation (e.g., schematics, manuals).
• Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts by participating in continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Follow all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE use, and participation in safety audits and meetings (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Proactive Safety).
• Document maintenance work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and report equipment trends or recurring issues.
• Identify missing spare parts or required tools and report them promptly to maintain maintenance readiness.
• Participate in equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications as assigned.
• Comply with internal and external QEHS (Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety) standards and regulations.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for training as needed.

Experience

• Experience2-5 years of relevant experience in maintenance of injection molding machines or similar automated manufacturing systems.
• Proven troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and root cause analysis tools.
• Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent.

Education / Certifications

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Completion of a technical certification or associate degree in one of the following areas (preferred):Industrial MaintenanceMechatronicsElectrical or Mechanical Engineering TechnologyElectro-Mechanical TechnologyTechnical Skills.

Technical SkillsWorking knowledge of:Injection molding equipment (e.g., Engel, Arburg, Husky)Electrical circuits, PLCs, sensors, relaysPneumatic and hydraulic systemsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematicsProficient computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office) and familiarity with digital maintenance tools.

Compensation

Starting hourly rate: $36.85.

The salary for this position has a range of $36.85 - $36.85 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints.
