Job summary

LEGO Group in Virginia is seeking a skilled molding operator to dismantle, clean, assemble, and set up molding tools for production across multiple machines. You will handle mold changes, monitor cycle times, and support operators with process questions in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

This role offers a hybrid workplace with 3 days per week in the office, comprehensive benefits, and a bonus program; travel for training may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with plastic manufacturing preferred.
  • Exposure to injection molding machines and interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantle, clean, assemble, and set up molding tools for production.
  • Perform mold changes and prepare machines for runs.
  • Troubleshoot basic molding and equipment issues and escalate when needed.
  • Monitor cycle times, injection intervals, and part quality.
  • Support operators with process-related questions and training.

Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesDismantle, clean, assemble, and set up molding tools for productionPerform mold changes and prepare machines for production runsTroubleshoot basic molding and equipment issues; escalate complex issues as neededMonitor cycle times, injection intervals, and part qualitySupport operators with process-related questionsMaintain mold cleanliness and readiness for productionCollaborate with production and mold maintenance teams to minimize downtimeSupport production across multiple molding machines as directed, prioritizing tasks based on production needsMay perform or assist in end-to-end molding operator and changeover technician duties as needed to support production continuity and meet business demandsProvide basic training and guidance to operators, interns, and traineesFollow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocolsApply Lean Continuous Improvement (LCI) principles in daily workSupport general production activities as neededWillingness to travel domestically and internationally for training as neededEquipment & Technology ScopeExperience with foundational injection molding equipment and production platforms, including but not limited to:Standard injection molding machines (25-ton to 150-ton presses)High-volume production environmentsManual and semi-automated systemsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or General Educational Development (GED)2–5 years of manufacturing experience (plastics preferred)Technical certificate or coursework in plastics technology, manufacturing, or mechanical systemsExposure to injection molding machine interfaces (e.g., Arburg, Engel, or similar)Starting Hourly Rate $27.95Core CompetenciesBasic understanding of injection molding processes and parametersMechanical aptitude and safe tool handlingAbility to follow standard work and proceduresBasic troubleshooting and issue identificationAbility to manage tasks across multiple machines under supervisionBasic mathematical skills, including the ability to work with metric units (e.g., millimeters, grams, degrees Celsius)CompensationThe salary for this position has a range of $27.95 - $27.95 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints.
