Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs general machine maintenance and repair of production equipment, building/facilities, and grounds. Maintains manufacturing production equipment through diagnostic, preventative, and corrective maintenance involving plant production equipment, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatics functions, working within accepted or standard practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists in the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems.
  2. Works from equipment manuals, work orders, and verbal instructions.
  3. Sets up and operates production equipment.
  4. Performs diagnostic, preventative, and corrective maintenance routines as scheduled to ensure proper operation of plant equipment.
  5. Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities.
  6. Lubricates moving parts, changes filters, maintains fluid levels, cleans, and inspects parts for wear, recommending replacements as needed.
  7. Responds to repair requirements for manufacturing plant equipment.
  8. Tears down equipment, diagnoses issues, replaces defective parts, reassembles, tests, and reports results.
  9. Performs routine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs and rebuilds systems as directed.
  10. Determines when outside resources are needed for assessment and repair.
  11. Sets up and operates machine tools for making or repairing parts, and maintains the tool room.
  12. May recommend purchases, cost-saving measures, and assist with budgeting.
  13. Constructs, moves, and assembles facilities and equipment, including wiring, plumbing, and electrical installations for new or relocated equipment.
  14. Builds, repairs, and installs partitions, doors, and trim using carpentry tools.
  15. Installs glass, replaces ceiling and floor tiles, and wall coverings as needed.
  16. Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3 years of experience repairing and diagnosing manufacturing equipment such as injection molding, RF welding, and extrusion machinery.
  • Technical training or certification in production machine repair.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical manufacturing equipment, and building/AC systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, GMP, and ISO 13485 preferred.
  • Good communication skills; verbal, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to prioritize, dependable, reliable attendance, self-motivated.
  • Availability for overtime when required.
  • Basic computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets).

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:

Hand and power tools; Forklift and pallet jacks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and using hands for handling objects or controls. Occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. May lift/move over 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Primarily in a manufacturing setting with occasionally loud noise levels.
