Job summary

NexTech in Shelby Township, MI seeks a Machine Maintenance Technician to ensure equipment operates safely and up-time is maximized. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plastic molding machines and related equipment.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, daily equipment inspections, and assisting with major repairs while following safety regulations and company procedures. Strong hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education.
  • Some college or technical education with courses in hydraulic circuits, blueprint reading, components repairs and electrical circuits.
  • Minimum 3 years operation of an injection molding machine.
  • Minimum 3 years in skilled trade capacity working on Injection Molding machinery.
  • Knowledge in hydraulics, electricity and pneumatics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair circuits using schematics, blueprints and sketches.
  • Ability to properly use equipment and tools to check and repair machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure preventative / predictive maintenance on equipment, machinery, tools and document PM through the Maintenance Manager.
  • Review and inspect equipment on a daily basis for safe and proper operating conditions.
  • Assist with major job repairs to machine, equipment or components when needed.
  • Submit requests to Machine Maintenance Manager for proper approval and authorization for machine replacement parts, equipment or components.
  • Follow all safety precautions on repairs to equipment, machinery and tools per MPI’s / OSHA requirements.
  • Any other job deemed necessary by the Machine Maintenance Manager.
  • Follows all safety, housekeeping, and company policies and procedures.
  • Follows all environmental procedures concerning spills, containment and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Coordinates and maintains all job responsibilities in a continuous and flexible manner and performs other related duties and assignments as required.

Job description

The Machine Maintenance Technician’s primary responsibility is to ensure that equipment is safely operating and meets its intended use optimizing equipment up-time. The purpose of the Machine Maintenance Technician is to make scheduled and unscheduled repairs on all machines and related equipment used in manufacturing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Skilled trades or Equivalent.
  • Some college or technical education with courses in Hydraulic circuits, blue print reading, components repairs and Electrical circuits.
  • Minimum 3 years Operation of an injection molding machine.
  • Minimum 3 years in skilled trade capacity working on Injection Molding machinery.
  • Knowledge in the Set-up of plastic molding machinery.
  • Familiar with the principles of hydraulics, electricity and pneumatics.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and repair circuits using schematics, blueprints and sketches.
  • Ability to properly use equipment and tools to check and repair machinery.

This position requires that the employee be able to move and transport plastic parts that generally do not exceed 10 pounds. This position also includes frequent and prolonged periods of standing/walking, pushing /pulling or moving/lifting supplies. This position experiences frequent/occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, repetitive motion and gripping. Must comply with all safety requirements including use of the personal protection equipment required for this position.
