Job description

Basic Scope/Purpose

Provides full maintenance support coverage for all manufacturing departments as needed.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Perform all responsibilities in a safe manner using the Take 5 system for all non-standard work.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance activities on all processing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment failures.
  • Recommend and implement changes that will improve equipment reliability.
  • Support production as needed.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with eMaint.
  • Determine material required for necessary repairs.
  • Utilize skills and knowledge in performance of daily repairs (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic of processing equipment).
  • Inform department supervisor/manager of diagnosis, approximate repair time and assistance required for specific project/department.
  • Follow all procedures such as lockout/tag out and safety procedures.
  • Complete all jobs in an orderly manner.
  • Strive for breakdown recurrence prevention.
  • Communicate effectively with associates, managers, etc. (written and verbal).
  • Share information/issues with relevant personnel.
  • Contribute to the team effort by listening to and using good judgment of co-worker’s ideas; train associates as needed; accomplish related results as needed.
  • Manage projects as assigned.
  • Assist in monitoring all contractors on site and ensure they follow all applicable rules.
  • Assist maintenance supervisor with job site preparation and ordering material.
  • Use ERP System to enter order requisition and check on purchase orders.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Maintain and promote Fenner Precision Polymers’ values and behaviors at all times.
  • Perform all the tasks related to machinery outlined in Manufacturing Support Mechanic I.
  • Assist the engineering group with the design and fabrication of production equipment.
  • Be able to train and mentor maintenance associates.
  • Assist manufacturing engineering with projects as needed.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of all product requirements and processing capabilities.
  • Be proficient in troubleshooting automated equipment and controls.
  • Perform all the tasks related to machinery outlined in Manufacturing Support Mechanic I & II.
  • Specialize in the development, installation and repair of automated equipment.
  • Coordinate and/or provide assistance with all machinery purchases, installations and upgrades.
  • Provide electrical and automation expertise during in-house machine builds, working with Engineering as required.
  • Design electrical and automation systems for in-house machine builds.
  • Create and maintain proper documentation of electrical schematics and control systems.
  • Coordinate outside vendors to provide assistance with maintenance and automation projects as needed.
  • Design PLC and data collection programs, as needed.
  • Research and apply new technologies to advance the manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure all equipment meets applicable safety requirements.
  • Perform all the tasks related to machinery outlined in Manufacturing Support Mechanic I & II & III.
  • Schedule maintenance programs and processes for an assigned plant production facility.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and skilled repairs on complex production equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose the more complex equipment problems.
  • Evaluate the need for replacement parts and place orders for needed tools.
Environmental, Health & Safety Accountabilities
  • Learn and follow EHS policies, rules and work instructions.
  • Attend required EHS training.
  • Wear the required PPE at all times.
  • Take personal responsibility for keeping yourself, your co-workers and visitors free from injury by participating in and/or conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections, corrective actions and safety observations.
  • Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other hazards in the workplace. STOP WORK when imminent danger is present.
  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.
Career Progression Opportunities

There are four levels of Machine Maintenance. Expectations are outlined.

Education and/or Relative Experience
  • Associate’s degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience performing troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment including related mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Motion controls and electrical wiring knowledge, required.
  • Mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge, required.
  • PC literacy in basic MS Office applications and AutoCAD, preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt required; Green Belt preferred.
  • Driver's License.
