The EA SPORTS Catalyst Research and Innovation Team pioneers research to propel the gaming industry forward, redefining the gaming experience through innovative technologies and new paradigms. We focus on experimentation and cutting-edge tech to uncover what makes games fun for humans.

As a Machine Learning Scientist, reporting to the Director of Machine Learning, you will realize the team's research roadmap by combining the latest research and applying it to video games. Your mission is to discover new technologies and interactive experiences that will redefine gameplay. You will identify research targets, define experimentation plans, implement and demonstrate new models, and contribute to a strategy to bring the future of gaming to life at EA Sports.

This role is open to remote candidates.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the ML research strategy to create new player experiences, exploring frontier technologies to shape the future of Sports Gaming.
  2. Work closely with the engineering team to support experiments with tooling, platforms, data acquisition, and management.
  3. Share results through presentations, papers, prototypes, and interactive demonstrations.
  4. Stay updated on the latest advancements and propose impactful projects to drive innovation.
  5. Collaborate with game teams to understand design goals and discover new engaging experiences.
  6. Partner with research, engineering, and game development teams.

Your Qualifications:

  1. Masters in Computer Science, mathematics, or related field, with research experience.
  2. Experience with machine learning, familiar with techniques like transformer and diffusion models.
  3. Technical background with research engineering experience, and a proven track record from idea to implementation.
  4. Success in turning ideas into effective implementations.




COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The listed ranges are what EA expects to pay in these locations at the time of posting. If you reside elsewhere, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay will be determined based on education, experience, skills, location, and business needs.

PAY RANGES






* California (depending on location e.g., Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): $140,700 - $204,700 USD




In the US, benefits include paid time off (3 weeks/year to start), 80 hours sick leave, 16 paid holidays, 10 weeks paid parental leave, medical/dental/vision insurance, life and disability insurance, and 401(k). Some roles may also include bonuses and equity.
